We are the first fully user driven anime community. This means that any user can contribute anything to our site and instantly see it posted and public. We function a lot like Wikipedia in that all our information is contributed by users for other users. If you like (or dislike) a particular DVD, Manga, or Video Game title, you can let people know (or warn them away from) it in the reviews and index section. If you have a favorite Voice Actor or Manga Artist, you can let others know about them through the Who's Who directory. If you have a store you feel deserves some extra promotion, be it strictly anime or just happens to sell anime, you can give them exposure in the Traveler's Guide to Anime. If there is a term that people often misuse when discussing anime and manga, you can make sure we have the definition in the Lexicon and point them to it. If you see a news story you feel needs to be known, you can post it on our main page (just cite your source). If you have fan art or convention photos you can share them with people in the image galleries. Finally you can join in on the fun on our message boards and meet people just like you and discuss your common interests.
We are quickly moving toward the goal of becoming the Perfect Anime Community. We appreciate all the help we get and hope that you will become a part of our community.
Anime Bliss was born out of a discussion between Galaxy, Twilight, and Gollum on the 6 hour car ride home from Anime Boston 2005. Gollum had spent 5 years working for the Anime Agency and Twilight had spent about 3 years moderating. Gollum was sorry to see that the Anime Agency was no longer a complete site, just a message board, and wanted to try to create a site that was similar to what he had worked on. Twilight and Galaxy were excited to be the beginning of this goal. Gollum ran straight to his computer when he got home and ordered the web address www.anime-bliss.com. Within a couple weeks Gollum had managed to get a site designed and built, while Twilight and Galaxy organized and set up the message boards. Twilight also began to recruit a staff of people to take care of reviews, image galleries, and other sections of the site. SirHellsing420, Priestman, Eimii, Aspirations, Amai, Manathern, Piro^kun, and Asakura were among those who came from Anime Agency to give us a hand with Anime Bliss. On June 1st, 2005 we opened our doors and began to run as "The Perfect Web Community"
About 3 weeks before our 1 year anniversary in 2006, Gollum realized he had to do something to try to revitalize the site. Unfortunately, we had lost a bunch of our original staff and most of the rest were very busy and unable to update. Then Gollum had a brainstorm, why not open up the site like Wikipedia so that any user could contribute. This would allow us to make use of lots of people who had a few things to contribute, but not the time or resources to actually work on the staff. He did a complete redesign of the site (which was a headache, but in the end was well worth it), and launched the new site a couple days before the 1 year anniversary on June 1st, 2006. Not only was the color scheme nicer, but also with the help of Dark Alchemist, we had new graphics which are much nicer. This is the current site you see now, which is "The Perfect Anime Community, for fans by fans". Within a month and a half of the relaunch of Anime Bliss, Locke announced the closure of Anime Agency, much to the disappointment of the staff, most of whom worked there before coming here. Acting with some pressure from Twilight, Gollum contacted Locke and asked if we could set up Anime Agency to point to Anime Bliss, thus allowing his members access to a new home and community.
This brings us to July 21, 2006 when this is being written. We have grown immensely in our first 13 monthes, and have a lot more ideas to continue. We now have the help of many many fans and are growing more complete by the day. Please join us and help us realize our goal of being a complete user driven community.
